Southern Appalachia – Long Road to Recovery
Helene was estimated to be 900 miles wide with up to 150 mph winds. She stalled out over the entire Blue Ridge Mountain Range with the epicenter in Burnsville, NC reaching South to Greenville, SC, West to Gatlinburg,, TN, East to Statesville, NC and North to Burke’s Garden, VA. The area had 12 inches of rain before and then another 20 inches during the storm along with multiple tornadoes.
The area has never experienced this level of destruction. EVER. Entire towns have been demolished. Many of your favorite vacation spots and businesses that have been some the best outdoor viewing and local arts and businesses are destroyed. Some will rebuild. Many will walk away and never return. The restoration will take years.
Hundreds of people have died and many bodies still missing, likely never to be found. The interstates in and out of the area being repaired and it will be a long time before you can enter the area from the East. Power is beginning to come back on and water and sewer is a big problem likely not to be restored for several months.
Some schools are resorting to drilling new wells to get water back and resume classes. To get a glimmer, watch these videos.

Miller's Organic Farm Update
Amos Miller attended court last week in response to the PDA’s appeal to sustain the injunction for Amos to not be able to sell his foods until he gets a permit and follows the criteria set by the PDA.
The current ruling allows him to sell outside of the state of PA only. The hearing happened and the judge panel estimated a ruling to occur in a couple weeks.
Send Prayers to Miller’s Family and Farms.
