Our yard after the storm

Simply Grassfed, in case you didn’t know, is composed of two farms. Alpine Heritage Creamery, our dairy and creamery where Alvin Fisher and family produces the raw A2/A2 cheeses as well as the butcher shop that processes our pasture-raised meats are in Paradise, PA.

Burke's Garden Farm in the Southern Appalachian mountains of Virginia is where John Fisher and family raise all the meat animals. I live at Burke's Garden Farm helping with the farm and I am the administrative, customer service, website, communications, and planning manager for Simply Grassfed.

Here at Burke’s Garden, we received 12 inches of rain in 2 days. Our power is still out and cell service just came back on line.

The community is well prepared with solar and generators. Our major freezer storage space for our meats and cheeses is still up and running with no loss of food.

Here at the farm, we have been juggling cleaning up fallen trees on sheds, roads, power lines, drying out household items from the flood waters, and keeping the animals from escaping through broken fences, rotating them to new pastures, and fed.

Western North Carolina is one of the larger regions Simply Grassfed and Miller’s Organic Farm have served, with drop offs in Asheville of hundreds of pounds of meat and dairy to around fifty families every 2 weeks for over 20-years.

The eye of Helene stalled out over Asheville. Surrounding counties received 33 inches of rain in 2 days followed by high winds and tornadoes. National Guard and Rescue teams are presently doing search and rescue missions.

There are a couple of our families we still have not heard from.

The Interstates coming into the area are closed from all directions except the South. I just got word that the East entrance has just been opened up during non-curfew hours. Airdrops are being made with supplies to shelters. Most homes are out of power, internet, mail, and water. Cell service is spotty. Electric is not expected to come back on for weeks and water and sewage needs to be rebuilt which will take months.

Many of our customers in the Asheville community are just like you in other areas of the US. Asheville has a strong Weston A. Price Chapter and many Primal Dieters. They value real food and require this food to keep themselves and their families healthy.

Wednesday, we loaded up and managed to get into Asheville to deliver meat, dairy and fuel to 20 families. It was so heartwarming to see friends' faces and give and receive big hugs. Some families have left the area. We will make this trip again next Thursday to hopefully delivery supplies to more families.

This Fall, Southern Appalachia which depends on tourism from nature-lovers who cherish these forests and majestic water ways, especially during the beautiful leaf-changing season will be physically, emotionally, and financially devastated and many local businesses will be closed for some time.

Western North Carolina, which has been a refuge, out of reach of natural disaster, a place with clean air, clean water, fertile soil, a strong local economy, a mecca of sustainability and the back to the earth movement is being challenged to its core.

An engineer friend of mine calculated that this is not a 100-year flood which the city was designed to withstand, rather a storm that the area has not witnessed for 2000 years.

This event is biblical in scope. Whether you call him God or her Gaia, we are brought to our knees and humbled.

We recognize the strength of this growing real food movement created by you, the consumers, and us the farmers. We’ve turned into a powerful community over the last few years responding to natural and political disaster.

Thank you so much for your support during the Plandemic, during the loss of Orla, our farm worker and his family and driver, James back in the Spring, and now through this challenging time.

Our ask of you this time is to please send prayers.

You can purchase e-gift cards in our on-line store. If you feel called, please gift food to someone affected by the storm.

Click on Make a Donation and we will see that this gets to our Simply Grassfed families affected in the area.

Email me at hello@simplygrassfed.com for help receiving your support.

Please be patient with us and have forgiveness if we mess up your order the next month or we are slow to respond to your phone calls and emails.

I look forward to your hugs at the Wise Traditions conference in Orlando.

Keeping the Faith,
Phoenix

How Do You Like Our Meats & Cheese

This Summer has been our busiest Summer yet. Typically, Summer slows down for us to make hay and than picks back up in the Fall. Not this year. You have keep us busy as beavers keeping up with all your orders of our Grass Fed and Pasture-Raised Meats and our Raw A2/A2 Cheeses.

News From the Farm

Hay Season Begins! We dusted off all of the equipment, sharpened the blades, and harnessed up the horses. This week we cut, raked, and baled our first test run of haylage. The grass is ready and we are too. Last year we produced about 1000 bales from June to August. We are hoping to produce 1500 this year.
