13 Holy Nights

December 24th, the eve of the Sacred Birth, kicked off the beginning of an ancient tradition.

This was the time in the course of the annual cycle to drop into deep contemplation and meditation on our soul’s journey to the earthly plane.

Humans would ask questions like:

Who am I?

Why am I here?

What is my spiritual nature?

How am I connected to the Divine?

We would ask God for guidance and wisdom to support us as we prepare for the light to return.

Whatever your background, it can’t hurt to utilize this powerful time to connect more deeply with the Divine outside of us and the Divine within us and pray for more understanding.

It is as simple as closing your eyes and taking 5 deep breaths and listening to the still small voice inside.

You could go outside and gaze at the starry sky and ask or chant one of the above questions.

Pray for Peace.

Pray for the union of Heaven and Earth.

Anchor ourselves in our power as a Spiritual Being having an earthly experience.

Prepare to let our light shine in the weeks to come.

Here are some tried and true prayers that are wonderful doorways in to the mystery:

Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

The Lord Is My Shepherd (Psalm 23)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

During this Holy period, the time the Amish pray and meditate on our spiritual life.

This year, they also celebrated the wedding of the Father of John and Alvin Fisher. During this time, Simply Grassfed and our friends at Miller’s Organic Farm have encountered some challenges from misguided people. This has been unfortunate and has taken a lot of time and energy to address. We are exhausted from responding to these distractions.

However, we see the positive in it all.

This has also been an opportunity to deepen our connection with God, our divine nature, and the work we are here to do on this planet - Connecting food and health, protecting food sovereignty, and bringing together Heaven and Earth.

So, after licking our wounds, we will be recharging our batteries (so to speak), and preparing to engage 2024 in full force inspired by our connection to the Divine and our dedication to our mission and vision.

Thank you all for supporting us and our other farm allies in bringing our vision into fruition.

May we all sow patience, peace, understanding, clarity, discernment, humility, playfulness, and courage to change the things we can in 2024.

Prayers and Donations to Southern Appalachia

Here at Burke’s Garden, we received 12 inches of rain in 2 days. Our power is still out and cell service just came back on line. Here at the farm, we have been juggling cleaning up fallen trees on sheds, roads, power lines, drying out household items from the flood waters, and keeping the animals from escaping through broken fences, rotating them to new pastures, and fed.

How Do You Like Our Meats & Cheese

This Summer has been our busiest Summer yet. Typically, Summer slows down for us to make hay and than picks back up in the Fall. Not this year. You have keep us busy as beavers keeping up with all your orders of our Grass Fed and Pasture-Raised Meats and our Raw A2/A2 Cheeses.
